decked out decoupage boxes

Upcycling at its best here - I took old cigar boxes and dressed them up with gems, scrapbooking paper and more! DIY home decor is easier than you think -- check back soon for a link to the tutorials on these babies!

I was among champagne, swirly sweets and serious springtime fashion at last night's MISRED Spring 2016 Launch. MISRED, a St. Pete, Florida boutique specializing in unique clothing and accessories, hosted a fashion event focusing on the arrival of the season's new silhouettes. Lace, denim details and pattern all combined to create a very sophisticated but wearable and fun collection. And the watermelon / lemon clutches?! Perfect!

Me and photographer Delane Ashley (who took all the photos for this post) were definitely excited to be there. I think one of our most favorite parts was the DIY succulent bar, where we chose our plant, gravel and stones as a cute take-home gift. How awesome is that?!

The workers were super personable and took interest in me and Delane, being kind enough to let us take photos and close-ups of all the sparkly goodness.  This was my first time at the store, and I definitely got a little "industrial loft meets Parisian chic" type of feel from the decor. Everything was merchandised in sections, so it was easy to find what you were looking for. I loved the bohemian vibe of the gemstone and agate jewelry - clearly, accessories always catch my eye! They have so many great gifts - at great price points, I must say - which make it a sure stop for anyone in the St. Pete / Tampa area.

You can check out more of MISRED on their website here, or on their social sites Facebook and Instagram.

Gatsby's Ball Mason Jars

These totally Gatsby-esque mason jars just evoke that sense of the 1920's - flowy feathers and all! I upcycled glass mason jars with a mix of twine, glitter, cabochons, pearls, old books and more to create precious vases worthy of any tablescape. These would be insane wedding decorations, as you can customize them to any color scheme - and they just look so unique! I love the little book roses, which add a vintage element and plenty of implied texture. Daisy Buchanan would definitely approve!

Recurring gusts of wind provided the perfect energy for this shoot, making my favorite (and recycled) scarf dance against a rocky railroad backdrop. Who knew a vintage maxi skirt (the pattern caught my eye) could also double as an oversized scarf?? I simply cut the waistband off, then cut up vertically to create a long strip - leave the raw edge for an unfinished look.

Lace-up ballet flats are always a good choice, and loads of accessories are necessary (of course). I played off the greens and tawny browns of the scarf, complimenting with bohemian bangles, bright abalone and rosary chain.
