four looks with mischa

COLLAB POST FEATURING:

MODEL: @MISCHABLOOM

JEWELRY/PHOTOS: ALLISON B. COOLING

Four looks in one day!! A frenzy of color, sparkle, and more with my model Mischa - all before the sun set!

Our first look focused on tropical vibes, bright colors, and a boho feel. Mix layering necklaces (my Evil Eye choker, Crystal Lariat and Tribal Mala) over a graphic tee (in matching colors!) for trendy style.

Look Two was all about that hippie-chic, free spirit girl. It just so happened that her Owl tee perfectly matched my crocheted crystal headband!

Look Three's blue hues played off the shine of the mosaic background. My Crystal Owl Necklace (find the tutorial here!) matched the silvery sparkles reflected from the mirrors.

Just as the sun was setting, we made our way over to the marina for a few last shots! Purple and blue gems stood out against the golden glow of the sunset, catching the last drops of light before dark.

denim choker diy

trendy fall choker diy

If I've said it once I'll say it a million times - if you're going to DIY anything this season, make it a choker! Why? They're super easy to make, don't use up much material (wrap a ribbon around your neck and call it a choker) and look stylish with every outfit.

I've been seeing chokers made of velvet, suede, leather and more -- but what about denim? My tutorial below will show you how to totally recycle old denim jeans into trendy chokers in no time. Plus, you can create different styles using rhinestones and cup chain to add bling. Bling is always a plus!

Since these DIY accessories only require about 15 minutes to make, you'll have plenty of time to create an entire choker wardrobe for winter.

Make thick bands, thin bands, and bands in between! I know some people find chokers uncomfortable - but the denim has a bit of stretch, so these WON'T literally, ahem, choke you!

Step 1: Gather materials. You'll need old denim jeans (cut from the leg part, include the seam), sewing scissors, flatnose pliers, Gem-Tac (not pictured), rhinestone cup chain, chaton rhinestones (or flatbacks), ribbon ends, 6mm jump rings and lobster claws. You will also need a metal file if you want to distress your material a bit.

Step 2: Cut a piece of the denim about 12" long (or measure to the correct circumference of your neck) and .5" wide, making sure to cut including the seam. I cut up the pant leg to give me enough length. Don't cut ACROSS the pant leg, or you won't have 12" of material!

Step 3: Distress your denim a bit by rubbing on a metal file, this roughens up the material and adds texture. If you don't want your denim distressed, skip this step!

Step 4: Cut any excess or long threads from the distressing.

Step 5: Glue on your chats in any pattern you desire. I used Gem-Tac.

Step 6: Add ribbon ends to the ends of the denim. Attach a lobster claw with your jumping, and a plain jumping to the other end to finish!

Go wild and crazy here, adorning other denim washes (I used a dark wash jean for the cup chain choker) for different looks. In true fall 2016 style, I'd pair these chokers with skinny jeans, a black tee, sneakers and a satin bomber jacket. You'll ooze of big city chicness!

looking glass

COLLAB POST FEATURING:

PHOTOGRAPHY: DELANE ASHLEY

JEWELRY: ALLISON B. COOLING

The cliffs above Georgia's rolling hills, dusted with sepia-toned foliage swaying in the wind, provide the perfect backdrop for the season.

Featured in this outfit are my Riverstone Wrap Bracelets (make your own here!), Freebird Necklace (make your own here!), and Solaris Convertible Wrap (tutorial coming...). The bright blue turquoise pops against muted olives and tawny browns. The Zara frock mimics that fall landscape perfectly, and I grabbed that vintage purse for even more texture. Top it off with comfy faux leather moccs, which are actually great for climbing mountains, who knew?
On a side note, I'm sure you'll notice my red and blue nail polish, sticking out like a sore thumb. However, my Chicago Cubs are WORLD SERIES WINNERS!! This clearly trumps the fact that they clearly do not go with my outfit, whatsoever. Sports over fashion. I will be wearing red and blue polish for the next month!!
